NO DAMAGE REPORTED YET FOLLOWING BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS IN UMZIMVUBU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY AREA

The Umzimvubu Local Municipality would like to confirm that no major damage to households that has been reported as a result of the recent bad weather conditions that are currently being experienced across the Eastern Cape province.

The inconvenience that we can report about is that many parts of the Umzimvubu jurisdiction were without electricity, this was caused by the two main lines that connects about 10 substations as communicated by Eskom. However as at 18:30 electricity was restored in some parts of KwaBhaca and EmaXesibeni areas.

“While we are grateful that the area has not experienced any major destruction, we urge all residents to remain vigilant and exercise caution as weather conditions may still pose risks” said Mayor Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu.

Residents are advised to follow all safety guidelines, avoid flooded areas, and report any emergencies to the Municipal Disaster Management Unit and their ward councillors respectively.

“The Municipality through Law Enforcement personnel and the Alfred Nzo District Municipality Disaster Management continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary through our social media platforms”, expressed Municipal Manager, Mr. Tobela Nota.
